Asif Mian (b. Jersey City, NJ; lives & works in Brooklyn, NY), earned an MFA from Columbia University, a B.A. in Studio Art & B.S. in Genetic Biology from Drew University, & attended the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture in 2018. He has been an artist-in-residence at numerous programs including Clifford Owens’ Seminar in Intensive Performance at Denniston Hill; AZ West - Institute of Investigative Living Residency with Andrea Zittel; & was awarded a 2018-2019 Workspace Artist Residency by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC). Recent exhibitions include a solo show at FALSE FLAG, Long Island City, NY; NADA’s Close Quarters on Governors Island, NY; Rush Arts, Philadelphia, PA; Denniston Hill, Glen Wild, NY; & Queens International 2018: Volumes at The Queens Museum. In 2019 Mian featured work in The Shed: Open Call and the Whitney ISP Curatorial Exhibition at The Kitchen, and mounted an ambitious solo presentation at Crush Curatorial in New York, NY. Awarded the 2019-2020 Queens Museum-Jerome Foundation Fellowship for Emerging Artists, Mian’s solo exhibition at The Queens Museum - RAF: Prosthetic Location - is on view through July 25, 2021.
